We made another visit to Bernie's Train Shop, 400 Church Street in Jessup, last week. Such a great store, huge selection of N and O along with HO items. Most of the stock is unique one-of-a-kind models. I got some cool passenger cars I was so enamored with I forgot to take a couple interior views. Hours: Thursday 5-8, Fridays 5-8, Saturdays 12-8 Sundays 10-4.

Stafford Meadowbrook
Stafford Meadowbrook last Sunday afternoon, near the south end of Laurel Line Tunnel. The rotting mattress that's been here for the last few years finally washed downstream over the winter.

Illegal Dumping
Spotted more illegal dumping the other day while out for a walk. On the hillside at the south end of Laurel Line Tunnel, off Old Log Road. Hope it gets cleaned up before the trolley excursions start, but I'm not holding my breath, nobody important lives around here. The City of Scranton seems to be run for the benefit of an elite few.

Ruins of Plane Number 5
We went up East Mountain last week, haven't been up here in ages. Pennsylvania Coal Company Railroad Plane 5 operated from 1850 - 1880 and was part of a series of planes used to move coal to Hawley on the D&H canal from down in the Pittston area.
From an 1877 insurance map. Note, not all roads/lots platted were constructed. The present day Erie Railroad, Wyoming Division tracks, now out of service, more or less follow the light track in this map.Sunday, March 21, 2021

Cycle Show Rumble
A benefit to buy wheelchairs for crippled kids goes horribly awry. Later a couple dozen went to jail for a few months, none longer than six. Today the site of the Polish Women's Hall is home to a big parking lot with an Auto Zone store.
