I should have had this last week, The grand opening of Keith's 105th, with Babe Ruth at the downtown Hipp. Once Albee decided on a new downtown house, the Hipp name was dropped from Keith ads. When the Keith lease on the Hipp expired on June 30, 1922, there was no Keith house downtown until the Palace opened on November 6. By the way, Bambino was a BO flop. You never know what you'll see walking down the street. This was on the new Harrison Avenue Bridge a couple weeks ago.
This is Cinerama opened in the Palace Theatre on November 14, 1956.
The initial Cinerama installation was a temporary one, lasting to 1959. Late that year a permanent Cinerama installation necessitated the removal of four of the six boxes, along with a chunk of the proscenium. This installation was removed in late 1964, the scars covered with giant red curtains.

Couldn't help but notice this the other day, a good example of the shoddy work you get from contractors in Scranton. This front is only a couple years old, yet it's already coming apart. Hope no one was hurt when that chunk fell onto the sidewalk.
Reminder the taxpayer funded clock on Lackawanna Avenue still hasn't been fixed. How many years has it been since it worked? Towns up and down the valley have clocks similar to this, the one in Scranton is the only one that doesn't work, much like the inhabitants of city hall

Fifty years ago today, newly elected mayor Ralph Perk painted a portion of the Allen marquee for a photo op. Two weeks later the first Playhouse Square Association production took place, the rebirth of Playhouse Square was underway!
We stopped by Renaissance Park on Saturday afternoon, unfortunately it was closed, as it was the last time we were here a few weeks ago. Maybe they should just change the sign if they're not going to open the park on Saturday. Your tax dollars at work.
Looking upstream towards the Detroit - Superior Bridge back in September. The lower deck of the bridge once had four tracks for interurbans and streetcars, it's been dormant since 1954 when traction service ended.
A pair of interesting shows on the same day, like some sort of cosmic aligning of rock gods. Elvis Presley, two shows at Public Hall, and Pink Floyd, one show in a college gym. I never saw Elvis, saw Pink Floyd twice, five months later at the Allen, and again in June 1975 in Pittsburgh.
E-scooters in Cleveland's Flats a couple months ago. Wonder if they'll ever have these in Scranton?
