VJ Day

 The official word came in a 7 PM Eastern War Time flash...

Plain Dealer, August 15, 1945. The official VJ is September 2, the day of the Jap surrender, legally it was August 15 in the US. However the unofficial celebration began that warm Tuesday evening. In Cleveland it started with a cheer in front of the Telenews Theatre, 241 Euclid Avenue, and spread like wildfire. See the Loveland article below.
