This is also near Milepost 12. There is some type of small abutment just below track level. This should be near where Plane No.5 passed over the light track. Could this be a remnant of that?
Frank your half correct on the # 5 incline of the PCC Gravity , the Gravity was the transportation part of the PCC . Your photo of the # 5 incline should say "Where the # 5 incline passes under the light track near mile post 12 of the Erie tracks "
We have a photo from 1883/1884 showing the E&WV RR being built along side of the Gravity light track passing over the # 5 plane loaded track in the Little Virginia section of S. Scranton . Sometime in 1886 this part of the # 5 incline was back filled as so the E&WV RR could have double tracks running thru this area .
