Bearden's Steakburgers
We stopped by Bearden's, 19985 Lake Road, a couple weeks ago. We haven't been here in about thirty years, it's a lot more modern inside, almost fast-foody. No waitresses as in the days of yore, instead, ordering is done off a touch screen. The food is excellent, but the ordering is a bit off-putting, especially if you're an older person.

Carnegie South Branch
The Cleveland Public Library's Carnegie South Branch at 3096 Scranton Road, renovated in 2018. This was one of 15 libraries built in Cleveland by Andrew Carnegie and opened in 1911. I often went here when I was much-much younger.

Bus Stop
This bus stop, on Lorain Avenue, & West 140th Street, was shot up last week in the middle of the afternoon. After school target practice for Cleveland School students I suppose. Days later, the damage lingers.

Absolute Legends And Collectibles
We stopped by Absolute Legends And Collectibles, 2007 Carabel Avenue, the other day, neat place with a lot of stuff. This is a bit out of my realm, but it was crowded, so they must be doing something right.

Lower Mall Contest Winner
The winner of the first television set to be given away as a prize in Cleveland. Not sure of the wisdom in this, although there was only one station on the air at the time, and it didn't start it's broadcast day until late afternoon.
From Boxoffice, May 22, 1948. I assume Mrs. Agnes Myers' trips to the Lower Mall became fewer once she had her telly set up.Thursday, May 7, 2026
Thoreau Place
New townhouses with a great view of the NKP under construction. Too bad they won't be done in time for UP 4014's passage next month. These would be great railfan homes, only $480,000 quite the bargain.
