Cleveland Arena
Today, March 21 is the 59th anniversary of the Moondog Coronation Ball held at the Cleveland Arena. Among the acts that appeared that night were: Tiny Grimes, The Dominoes, Paul Williams, Varetta Dillard, and Danny Cobb. Produced by WJW DJ Alan Freed it is often considered the first rock and roll show.
The Cleveland Arena was also the longtime home of the Cleveland Barons of the American Hockey League. The building was razed in 1976.
