Ft Wayne Historical Society made an excellent video of re-railing their beloved Nickel Plate 765, turning catastrophe into an educational moment showing people the kind of effort it takes to re-rail equipment after a mishap.
In their case the gauge pins broke and the rails spread, dropping the engine's drivers and trailing truck between. A bit of scuffed paint and no real harm done, only a weekend of rerailing and repairing the track damage.
