Fifty seven years ago tonight, few thought the theatres would ever reopen.

Loew's State
Today is the 105th anniversary of the opening of Loew's State Theatre.
Loew's State auditorium, circa 1923. Theatre Historical Society photo.Funny how I never hear from my "friends" at the theatres unless they want something from me. Although I enjoy the snarky anonymous comments, often making wildly untrue allegations. Sometimes people don't like what I have to say, but they know it's me saying it, I don't hide behind anonymity like a coward.

Liberty Tax Service
Liberty Tax Service, 6424 Detroit Avenue last month. Always remember going past the one in Plains on my way back from Wilkes-Barre, they always had someone dressed up like the Statue of Liberty out front.

Challenger
We were in Boston on our way to Paul Revere's House when we heard the news on the radio. I bought this newspaper at South Station, it was our first look at the tragedy.

Lorain Theatre
The Lorain Theatre, 4601 Lorain Avenue has recently been reborn as the new home of Visible Voice Books that had previously been in Tremont. The theatre building dates to 1909, with a capacity of around 450, it served primarily as a picture house through the late winter of 1969. The theatre was transformed into the Denmark Cinema in late 1971 and ran as an adult theatre through the 1970's. Later the building served as a furniture store, and was vacant for a number of years. The recent renovation is quite impressive.
