On July 31, 1932 the Tribe lost the first game they played in here, 1-0 to Lefty Grove and the Philadelphia Athletics, it seemed only fitting they should lose the last one too. In front of 72,390 fans the Tribe lost the final game to the White Sox 4-0. Before the game a giant flag was unraveled on the field. After the game, former Clevelander Bob Hope sang a special Tribe version of "Thank's for the Memories." The crowd slowly dissipated, and then it was over.
The following spring the Tribe began playing in the new Jacob's Field.
Two years later the Browns played their last game here, then slunk out of town to Baltimore. A year later the stadium was razed and replaced by a new football stadium.
