SS Eastland

 An undated postcard of the SS Eastland, On July 24, 1915, the Eastland capsized in the Chicago River, claiming 844 lives.

Zephyr

 Undated Zephyr postcard from the Century of Progress Expo in Chicago, 1934.

Undated newspaper ad with the Zephyr and the famous Dawn to Dusk dash to Chicago to open the exposition. I got this in Chicago in 1984.

Chicago: Sheridan Theatre

The Sheridan Theatre at 4036 N. Sheridan Road was designed by J.E.O. Pridmore and had a seating capacity of 2,649. The Sheridan closed in 1951 and later became a synagogue. After the congregation moved in the 1970's the Sheridan used for Spanish films under the name Teatro El Palacio. This operation ended in the early 1990's and the theatre was razed. Chicago: Belmont Theatre

The 3,200 seat Belmont Theatre at 1635 W. Belmont Avenue was built by the local Lubliner & Trinz circuit and opened in 1925. The architect W.W. Ahlschlager later became famous as the designer of the Roxy Theatre. Balaban & Katz took over the theatre in 1930 and operated it until the mid 1960's when it was converted into a bowling alley. The theatre was razed in 1996.

Chicago Surface Lines 1374

Chicago Surface Lines 1374 at Union Illinois in October 1990. This was built by the St.Louis Car Company in 1906, and used in passenger service until 1938. It was used in salt service until the end of streetcar service in Chicago in 1958. The museum spent about 15 years restoring this car.
